Today we performed our interpretations of the Declaration of Independence. We also examined the purpose of the document and whether it's purposes were fulfilled. What was the goal of the Revolution? What did the founding father's really hope would happen? Did they want freedom for all? Did they get freedom for all? If you were absent: Watch the YouTube clip below and answer the following question in one paragraph (3-5 sentences) "Do you consider the American Revolution a success? Yes or No? Wny? ***Test next time! The war has begun! Today we discussed the Declaration of Independence as an "official breakup letter" from the colonists to the King. If you consider it that way, the Declaration becomes slightly easier to understand. We worked in groups to re-write portions of the document into modern verbiage with one catch - it must be in song version or slang version. We will present these first thing on Friday. If you were absent, the assignment is listed below. You will do the same assignment, but alone instead of with a group.
Before the war began, there were three groups of Americans that existed; those that wanted to stay loyal to the crown, those that wanted to break away and those that were undecided. Today we debated each of their viewpoints.
If you were absent - come see us for the assignment the class completed before performing the debate. You will take on the role of one of the four groups that was discussed, fill out the sheet, and turn it in. Today we examined the causes of the American Revolution and the events that brought the colonists to distrust and dislike mother England. Taxes and tighter control by King George and his parliament caused many Americans to question their loyalties.
